I've spent 25+ years building and scaling international FMCG businesses - not advising from the sidelines, but actually doing the work: building market entry strategies, managing multi-market P&Ls, negotiating with distributors, recruiting and leading international teams, and delivering growth that stands up to PE scrutiny.
My track record:
International Director – Quorn Foods (PE-backed, £550m exit)
Member of the executive team that transformed Quorn prior to its sale to Monde Nissin. Accountable for international P&L covering 15 markets through 5 regional hubs.
General Manager – AB World Foods (Patak's, Blue Dragon)
Appointed to establish the company's Australian operations from scratch. Built the business, negotiated the exit from the incumbent distributor (General Mills), recruited the local team, and delivered £1m incremental EBIT in year one.
Managing Director – Seabrook Crisps
Brought in to turn around a loss-making £25m branded manufacturer. Returned the business from £150k monthly losses to profitability within 12 months through cost base restructuring, capability building, and brand repositioning.
Director – International Sales, Patak's Foods
Restored growth to the £10m export business, delivering double-digit growth and award-winning performance across European and international markets.
Why I started InternationalFMCG:
After two decades of building these businesses, I recognised a gap: ambitious UK FMCG brands struggle to find the right expertise and the right people to scale internationally. Generic consultants don't understand the operational reality of distributor negotiations or multi-market margin management. Recruitment agencies pull from UK commercial pools rather than sourcing candidates who've actually done international FMCG.
I founded InternationalFMCG to bridge that gap - bringing hands-on operational expertise, a genuine international network built over 25+ years, and the ability to connect clients with senior commercial talent who've lived the international reality, not just talked about it.
How I work:
I work with a small number of clients at a time - typically on a project or retainer basis - providing close strategic and operational support. Sometimes that's developing a growth strategy, sometimes it's acting as Fractional Export Director to execute that strategy, and sometimes it's finding the permanent International Sales leader to take it forward.
I focus on food and beverage brands where I can add genuine value - businesses at the stage where international growth is critical but they need someone who's actually built these operations before, not someone learning on their watch.
The network advantage:
Through my time at Quorn, AB World Foods, and subsequent consultancy work, I've built relationships with distributors, retailers, and commercial leaders across Europe, Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and North America. More importantly, I've hired and worked alongside some of the best international FMCG talent in the industry. When clients need senior commercial hires - International Sales Directors, Regional Managers, Export Leads - I can access candidates who understand the reality of scaling branded products internationally, not generic UK Account Managers being repositioned as "international."
I've also worked with businesses preparing for PE exits, helping them build the international growth story and commercial infrastructure that enhances valuation.
Based in Manchester, I'm happy to work with clients across the UK and internationally. If you're looking for strategic guidance, hands-on execution support, or senior commercial talent with genuine international FMCG experience, let's talk.
